REGULATORY PRECISION

Two distinct tracks,

Many maintenance operators default to one registration body for everything. BECISS routes each service to the regulator that actually governs it.

Track 1 — Structural & Civil
ECSA-Registered Sign-Off
The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is the only body authorised to register engineering professionals (Pr Eng, Pr Techni Eng). Structural integrity monitoring, civil asset maintenance, and infrastructure remediation are positioned within this framework.
Applies to: structural monitoring, civil remediation, water treatment infrastructure sign-off.
Track 2 — Electrical Utility Connections
Eskom / DoL / NERSA Framework
As of October 2025, Eskom no longer mandates ECSA sign-off for most residential-scale embedded generation — a DoL-registered electrical contractor now suffices. ECSA remains relevant for larger, more complex installations.
Currently evolving — BECISS verifies the applicable pathway for every connection before proceeding.
